About PSL Energy Services

In April 2003, backed by financing from the Bank of Scotland and Lime Rock Partners, Doug Duguid led the Management Buyout (MBO) of the PSL Group's UK business. Now, over three years later, PSL Energy Services are a leading provider of Wells, Pipeline, and Process Services in the UK and international markets due to a proven track record on service quality, health and safety and a consistent ability to respond quickly to market demands.

This unique combination of capabilities puts PSL Energy Services in an ideal position to support our clients and to offer an exceptional service to the new independent oil companies now entering the UKCS.

In 2003, PSL Energy Services acquired Dolphin Well Services from Fred Olsen Energy. This extended the range of Wells Services to include Hydraulic Workover, Rig Assist and Underbalanced Drilling.

Over 950 employees operate from bases within Europe, Caspian, Middle East, Asia Pacific, and North Africa regions. Exciting times lie ahead for PSL Energy Services as we continue to consolidate our position within the UK market and move into new international areas. The award of high profile contracts from companies such as BP, Apache, CNR International, Talisman, Norsk Hydro and TotalFinaElf reinforce our optimism that the company will increase its share of national and international markets.

Our multi-disciplined workforce is one of our most valuable assets, and this is reflected in the importance placed on safety, training and health. PSL are a certified ‘Investor in People’ and operate an in-house competency system which as been assessed and awarded approval from OPITO. PSL was the first company in the world in our business sector to attain this award. In 2006, PSL were presented with Scotland’s Health at Work Bronze Award.

PSL has a policy which requires individuals to take personal responsibility for safety while the company ensures safe systems of work. The Dupont STOP ® system is used and actively encouraged with full support being given to personnel who see the need to ‘Stop the Job’.  The Company also has a strong safety culture which is measured annually across the whole of the organisation and which is enhanced by a cycle of continual improvement.
